Sweet Paris...

Like most people I love Paris! The apartments, the Eiffel tower the well dressed women, and most importunity the croissants & sweet treats!

A little while ago I discovered this book called "Sweet Paris". At first you are just drawn in by the lovely looking tart on the cover but what's behind this books cover proves to be much more delightful!

Take a look for yourself at the beautiful (and very indulgent!!) pages below:

Darn it - for the love of wool

Winter always brings on this sudden desire to knit and crochet things.

A few project that have caught me eye are these beautiful like sized pop poms featured in Country Style and also the beautiful knitted bunting.

Tucked In

We all dream of doona days. And as the rainy days settle in for another season of winter we all tend to think of them a little more! However with Meredith Gaston's beautifully illustrated book, Tucked In, in hand it’s hard to know if you would ever want to get out of bed!

The perfect combination between creative writing and colourful & playful illustrations make Tucked In a pleasure to read or browse while hitting snooze on your alarm. It’s also the perfect little gift to brighten someone’s day if they have been feeling a little below par.

This book portrays a wonderful sense of positivity and optimism. It speaks from the heart and challenges the reader to dear to dream. It’s worth a day in bed just to read it!

Baking Day

I sometimes think that the wonderful art of home baking is lost to our generation. In a world where we are surrounded by pre-packaged food and take away it’s often hard to find the time to truly appreciate home baked goods. This book, Baking Day, by the Women’s Weekly Australia reminds me so much of being a little girl and being able to lick the scraper when we had finished hand mixing a chocolate cake or sample the cookie mix and therefore only ending up with half the amount of cookies we should have! The beautiful presentation on this book makes it’s simple yet delicious recipes all the more appealing! The inclusion of vintage fabric and bobbin threads across each chapter are a visual feast in their own right.

I hope you find this lovely book as inspiring as I did and maybe even feel inspired enough to make my favourite recipe, as shown on the pages below.

Now go and unleash your creativity in the kitchen!

When the paper cover is removed it reveals this beautiful hardback.

Emily Green

I have fond memories of making fruit loop necklaces when I was a little girl. Probably the fondest memory was being able to have a little snack on them when I was hungry! But the lovely colours were always so inviting and when I saw Emily Green's beautiful creations at a Christmas Market in Melbourne I instantly fell in love!!

Her bold use of colours and eye for unusual and unexpected colour combinations has made her necklaces very popular. I'm guilty of currently owning two with a third on my wish list!

Decorate with Flowers

This gorgeous new book, Decorate with Flowers, is written by the very talented Holly Becker and Leslie Shewring and arrived in my post box yesterday!

I couldn't resist but to sit down with a nice cup of tea and read it from cover to cover!

Decorate with Flowers is filled with cute, clever, creative yet practical ways for decorating with flowers. I believe flowers are an essential part of any home and are a lovely way of introducing natural elements inside any interior.

My favorite projects from the book are the flower chandelier and Liberty Fabric pots. The book also sparked me imagination for using paper bags as vases (with jars hidden inside) as gifts.

When the paper wrap is removed it reveals a beautiful mint coloured underneath. Each turn of the matte finished pages brings fresh inspiration and colour schemes.

Holly and Leslie truly have found the perfect balance between pretty styling and practical projects. This books is truly is must for the bookshelf or coffee table, even if just for the gorgeous photography!

Check out the Decorate with Flowers website for more beautiful pictures and information on the book and authors.

The Changing of Seasons

Today as the season changes from warm to cool, clear blue skies into mottled greys and dry baron landscapes awash with green grass, I sit and reflect on the beauty that surrounds us everyday. The wind blowing gently through the oaks that line our driveway, the speckled eggs our chocks lay, the dappled sunlight shinning through the wild phalaris grass growing along the road.  At times I think we are trying so hard to look at all the crazy things we are surrounded by in the world that we don't truly acknowledge the beauty that lies in a patterned feather or intricately woven spiderweb.

So stop for just a moment and indulge in all the wonderful things our beautiful world has to offer.
