Decorate with Flowers

This gorgeous new book, Decorate with Flowers, is written by the very talented Holly Becker and Leslie Shewring and arrived in my post box yesterday!

I couldn't resist but to sit down with a nice cup of tea and read it from cover to cover!

Decorate with Flowers is filled with cute, clever, creative yet practical ways for decorating with flowers. I believe flowers are an essential part of any home and are a lovely way of introducing natural elements inside any interior.

My favorite projects from the book are the flower chandelier and Liberty Fabric pots. The book also sparked me imagination for using paper bags as vases (with jars hidden inside) as gifts.

When the paper wrap is removed it reveals a beautiful mint coloured underneath. Each turn of the matte finished pages brings fresh inspiration and colour schemes.

Holly and Leslie truly have found the perfect balance between pretty styling and practical projects. This books is truly is must for the bookshelf or coffee table, even if just for the gorgeous photography!

Check out the Decorate with Flowers website for more beautiful pictures and information on the book and authors.

The Changing of Seasons

Today as the season changes from warm to cool, clear blue skies into mottled greys and dry baron landscapes awash with green grass, I sit and reflect on the beauty that surrounds us everyday. The wind blowing gently through the oaks that line our driveway, the speckled eggs our chocks lay, the dappled sunlight shinning through the wild phalaris grass growing along the road.  At times I think we are trying so hard to look at all the crazy things we are surrounded by in the world that we don't truly acknowledge the beauty that lies in a patterned feather or intricately woven spiderweb.

So stop for just a moment and indulge in all the wonderful things our beautiful world has to offer.

SY Textiles by IKEA

SY Textiles by Ikea was a book I found on a Billy bookcase completely by accident on a recent shopping trip to Ikea. I have always found inspiration in Ikea's clean lines and bold use of coloured textiles and the book is full of nifty ways of incorporating beautiful textiles into the home and has lot's of super easy DIY examples.

Filled with lots of gorgeous photography and inspiring projects this book is one of my most loved book on my book shelf.

Find SY Textiles at your local Ikea store.

Beauty in Bloom

Today's post is inspired by the beautiful watercolor illustrations in Natalie Bloom's (of Bloom Cosmetics) book, Beauty in Bloom. The illustrations are done by the very talented Rebecca Wetzler.

Vintage Flowers

Flowers and textiles always just seem to go hand in hand and for as long as I can remember I have always had a strong passion for both areas. When I first stumbled across Vic Brotherson's new book I was instantly delighted from the moment I turned the first page. It now takes pride of place on my overflowing book shelf and is a constant source of inspiration.
